For those yearning for more fulfillment and authenticity in their lives, Louise's story is an inspiration, her journey a lesson in how we can get to the core of our true selves: we are less a composite of what others do to us, think about us, or expect of us, than our willingness to heed that we are each called to embrace our lives as a messenger for discovering a more important meaning of living. This intimate, courageous and heart-filling memoir shows the power of the human spirit in the task we are each called upon to do: achieve self discovery. '
This is an astonishing story, a wonderful and important work. Read it and let it speak to your heart.—Montel Williams
ABOUT THE BOOK
A twenty-something aspiring actress with the sort of beauty that graces the covers of misty romance novels, Louise Ashby was destined to follow in the footsteps of her famous parents in a career in Hollywood—until a car accident instantly changed everything. Repairing the damage to her face and skull would take fifteen years of reconstructive surgeries. But though her body eventually knited together, alcohol, drugs, rage, and a grand mal seizure eventually brought her back to the emergency room—again in critical condition—and revealed a truth she could not have prepared for. The subsequent journey would prove life-alerting. What she had planned for her life, and what life had planned for her, would be different. She would need to give in, let go, and accept destiny, her destiny—which was to accept, and share, the gift it brought.
